About

Owner-operated. Veteran-owned. Security-first.

Layered Software is Frank Davis and a small bench of specialists. You deal with the person who designs your system, not an account manager.

Frank Davis

I’ve spent more than a decade building the digital side of small businesses, and several years running sales and systems for a two-brand HVAC contractor in Upstate New York and Vermont. That’s where Layered Software started: connecting the CRM to the field software, putting AI on the phones after hours, and automating the review requests nobody had time to send.

Most owners I meet don’t need more software. They need the software they already bought to work together, and someone to keep it working. That’s the whole job.

I’m a service-disabled veteran, and Layered Software is certified by New York State as a Service-Disabled Veteran-Owned Business (SDVOB). We work with businesses anywhere in the country.

How we operate

Security first

We’ve cleaned up hacked small-business sites. It changes how you build. Least-privilege access on every connection, no unneeded plugins, hardened hosting, and your access keys never shared or reused. We ask for the minimum access and give it back when we’re done.

Fixed prices

No hourly billing. Every build has a price and a finish date before it starts. If it takes us longer, that’s our problem.

You own everything

Accounts, data and documentation are in your name. If we part ways, the system keeps running and the next person can read how it works.

Why “layered”?

Because every business that runs well is built in layers, whether anyone planned it or not. A foundation (domain, hosting, security). A connection layer where systems share data. Automation on top of that. Then AI staff, then visibility, then the numbers the owner watches.

When a layer is missing, the one above it fails in confusing ways: the AI can’t book because it can’t see the schedule; the dashboard is wrong because the systems disagree. Building in layers means each piece has something solid underneath it — and when something breaks, we know exactly where to look.
